Ones sent in from the
instant form:
- For the carpal bones one can use:
Some Lovers Try Positions That They
Can't Handle
- To remember the cranial nerves:
Oh Oh Oh To Taste And Feel Very
Green Veggies, AH Kristen, DH2 @ U-M
- To remember the 12 cranial nerves I came up with:

- Hypertrophy is an enlargement of a tissue or organ caused by increase
in size, where as hyperplasia is an enlargement of tissue or organ
caused by increase in number or normal cells. I differentiate between
the terms hypertrophy and hyperplasia by remembering the trophy
in hyper"Trophy", and I want the largest trophy. Then I can
remember hyperplasia is an increase in number. Submitted by
Jennifer.

- Profiramonas gingivalis--Ramona had gingivitis and now she has chronic
perio (check spelling)
- Exogenous--Exit out (staining from outside source) Endogenous--Enter
in (staining from within source like dead pulp)
- Kwashiorkor syndrome of severe protein deficiency. Has the word wash in
it. K for cannot (k not) wash out fat. Think of a fat chubby baby who has
edema.
- Tic douloureux which is a trigeminal neuralgia which means
irritation of the fifth cranial nerve the trigeminal V. Both Tic
and Trigeminal start with T for trigger to touch.
When you touch the face and forehead there is severe pain.
- Addison's disease is due to insufficient production of corticol from the
adrenal gland. Mr. Addison has Adrenal problem and cannot control temper.
- Osmosis has to do with water movement in and out of membrane. Think of an
Ocean (beach) for osmosis. The water moves to the sand where there is less
water and more sand. Just like that the water moves in the cell if there is
more salt or solutes causing the cell to blow up with water.

with branches (straie).
- stannous fluoride has the word stan, stannous stains
- Vitamin C for Citrus fruits. Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
deficency causes BeriBeri. B and 1 for Beri Niacin is in wheat
bread that is brown and wrinkled so think deficiency of niacin causes skin
disease That's all folks from Nisa Hashmani
- I make up words or use the alphabet a lot to remember things like:

- I owe this one to our osha trainer Kim from Colorado..
Hep A and E... Ate it or Eat it because thats how they are
transmitted and
Hep "B" is "b"ad because it is transmitted in
so many ways. MKW

- To remember the Classes of occlusion, think of a car and a gear shift.
**For Class I think of the shift in neutral.
**For Class II think of the shift in 2nd gear and think of the mandible going
towards the back like the shifter goes down.
**For Class III think of the shift in 3rd gear and think of the mandible going
towards the front like the shifter going up.

- Radiology tip: To remember that using the KVP knob makes the electons
SPEED up, relate it to a race and call it the KVP 500! Also, if you speed up
for too long you'll get LIGHT headed. (If you increase the KVP the film gets
LIGHTER = decreased radiographic contrast.)this tip comes from Allegany
College of Maryland Amy Kurtz and April McMullen

- There are 2 bony defects:
Dehesinse and fenestration.
Dehesince is a groove like area in the bone and fenestration is an actual
"window" in the bone. We remembered it this way because if you are looking
through a fence there is a hole thus fenestration. Hope this helps.

- For the Foramen that the cranial nerves V1, V2, V3, VII, IX, & X go through, is
Fish Around (the) Valley, (with your) Acoustic Jug.
Fish = Superior Orbital Fissure (V1). Around = Foramen Rotundum (V2). Valley = Formamen Ovale (V3). Acoustic = Internal Acoustic Meatus
(VII). Jug = Jugular Foramen (IX, X)

Here's one.I could never figure out which antibiotics are bacteriocidal and
bacteriostatic. I realized like penicillin inhibits Cell wall synthesis.
Cell wall begins with a C and so does cidal. So if they inhibit cell wall
synthesis then they are bacterialcidal.. The only antibiotic that it doesn't
apply to is metrodiazonle: it is bactericidal but inhibit protein synthesis.

A classmate told me this one for sharpening Graceys:
Rod's Leavin - if you
have the odd end of the instrument (like the 11 end of the 11/12), sharpen
the right side (as you face it), if you have the even end (the 12 end of the
11/12), sharpen the left side of the blade (as you face it). Right=odd,
Left=even - Rod's Leavin. She saved me with this one!!! Thanks Meg (and
Angela) :)
