Geri Caughey RDH Contributes:
Of course, education is an obvious path. But education can take on more than the traditional arena. I personally teach at NYU but I also instruct offices on the use of digital radiography once they buy the program. Although new graduates might be locked out of teaching at the college level until they gain more experience, one might be able to train offices on new products like practice management software of dig x-ray right out of school, particularly if they have a strong computer background or if they have had their x-ray license for several years.

Noel contributes:
I not only practice in a clinical setting, but I am Volunteer Coordinator for a sliding scale clinic. I call hygienists and ask them to donate some of their time. I also attend conventions, etc and come up with creative ways to get people to donate time., ie, offer free continuing ed., have them do it in there on office, etc. I love both my jobs and find them really rewarding.

The online Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Dental Hygiene degree program from The Fones School of Dental Hygiene offers dental hygienists who wish to advance their career an opportunity to further their education beyond their A.S. degree. Dental hygienists traditionally begin their professional work following completion of the A.S. degree and certification, at which point the demands of their work schedule become an unavoidable obstacle to pursuing the B.S degree at a traditional university. The B.S. in Dental Hygiene online degree program will remove this obstacle for thousands of dental hygienists worldwide who could learn at anytime, from anywhere. The B.S. in Dental Hygiene Online is optimal for adult learners who are able to find the time and discipline to engage in part-time self-directed study working with qualified faculty in their subject field.
