Antibodies

IgD

Activates the B-cell. Immune system regulation. Trace.

 

 

IgA

Protects mucosal sites. Found in tears, saliva, breast milk. Principally seen in secretions.

 

 

IgE

Attack parasites & may harm humans by causing allergies. Seen in acute allergic reactions.

 

 

IgG

Crosses the placenta. Most abundant. Immunity for newborn bt only for a few weeks.

 

 

IgM

1st antibody produced in an immune response. 1st to be formed against antigen.
