1. Cementum is made up of: 65% calcium hydroxyapatite, 23% organic, & 12 % water. 2. Cementum is vascular Avascular. 3. Cementoblasts: create cementum 4. Cementogenesis: cementum matrix being laid down. 5. Two functions of cementum: seal dentinal tubules, & attachment for perio fibers. 6. Describe the following pattern types of cementum: Overlap: 60% cementum overlaps enamel. Most common. Meet: 30% end to end Gap: 10% gap between cementum and enamel. 7. Forms at a slow rate. One layer will cover all of root & many layers will cover cervical 1/3 near the Cej. Width never changes: Acellular. 8. Depostied at faster rate. Apical 1/3 of root. Very common in interaddicular area: cellular cementum.
